Hello Ocean!!

I was so excited to wake up early! Doug and I were heading to the airport for a vacation in South Florida! I hadn’t seen the ocean in over three years, and couldn’t wait to feel the sand on my feet! I sprang out of bed thrilled for the week ahead! My parents, niece, sister and brother-in-law were all coming too, so I knew this was going to be a great trip!

Growing up, we went to South Florida almost every year, so it was amazing to be back in a place I know so well and love so much! I should have known this was going to be a wonderful vacation, because within an hour of arriving, I was looking at the ocean with a margarita in my hand! Who could ask for a better start to vacation!?!

The weather was gorgeous during our entire trip! Luckily, I’m a complete sunscreen freak, so I didn’t get burnt, or even pink once! With my natural Arctic Tan, SPF 30 and I became very close friends this trip! I can’t tell you how amazing it was to lay by the ocean, and hang out by the pool! I felt like I was in Heaven!

One of the highlights of our trip was when we went to Palm Beach! Doug and I actually got married in Palm Beach! It’s such a beautiful town, and I hadn’t been back since our wedding, so I was thrilled to see it all again! We arrived at The Breakers hotel, and it may have been even more beautiful than I remembered! Such a special place!

All in all, we had an amazing week! With stops in Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and Hollywood, we got to see some of the best places in South Florida! It was so wonderful to spend time with the people I love the most, in such great places! What I do know after this trip is, I’m not going to wait another 3 years before I go back to the ocean!

I Love Air Conditioning!

I’ve been having problems with my air conditioner for a few weeks now! It’s not keeping my condo cool and frankly, in Tennessee, you NEED well working air conditioning! It all started when Doug and I were having our friends over for dinner! I was cooking and the condo got hot, then hotter, then I called the heating and cooling people to get them over immediately!

After that visit we thought we had the problem fixed, but, two days later the same thing! After three visits I kind of lost my patience! This morning I woke up, and it was 78 degrees in my condo! I wasn’t happy! I called the company AGAIN and said this will now be your 4th visit to my condo could we please get this under control!

I had an afternoon meeting, so when I started blow drying my hair, I thought I was going to have heat stroke! I walked over to the thermostat and it was………get ready for it……..you’re going to think I’m lying………but I’m not………86 DEGREES!!! I wanted to die! To make a long story short the heating and cooling guy did not get to my condo until 5:50PM!! And to give the misery a cherry on top…..could not find out what the problem is! So today was miserable, and we have more of that to look forward to tomorrow! I never knew how grateful I was for air conditioning until I was in an 86 degree condo! My name is Karli and I Love Air Conditioning!!

Change Of Plans!

A common theme in my life can be summed up with the saying, ”if you want to make God laugh tell him your plans!“ It seems like just when I have it all in place, and everything figured out something changes at the last minute! The great thing about is, it’s almost always for the better! I think that’s why I don’t mind it! LOL! Well, if you’ve been reading, you know I’ve been trying to find the perfect Roy Orbison song to record. I thought, I had found the perfect song with, “Careless Heart,” but once again, God laughed!

I was watching the movie, “Indecent Proposal,” I hadn’t seen it in years, well the movie closes a song called, “A Love So Beautiful,” by Roy Orbison! I fell in love instantly! I thought it was the coolest song, and knew right away, “Careless Heart,” had to go! LOL! Kind of a last minute change considering we head into the studio on Tuesday, but I knew we could make it work!

I called Scott Whitehead, (fabulous guitar player, and producing this song), and let him know we were making a change! Luckily he was great about it! We got together and started working right away! I think it went great! I have a couple days to practice and really get it right! I’m very much looking forward to recording it, and hope it turns out great! Fingers Crossed!!

I’m Officially In Love With #Twitter!!

I’ve been on all of the social networks for a while, but I have to admit they were never my favorite things to participate in! I guess I just didn’t get the point! Recently, I’ve really started to like them! I realized it was a great way to have instant access to my fans, and for them to be able to talk to me! I started to have a lot of fun with it, but still wasn’t really that in love with the whole process!

Well all of that changed today! Today was the day I officially fell in love with Twitter!! I have absolutely no idea what took me so long to figure it out! I’m having a blast reading what people are Tweeting about or what the Trending topics are! It’s completely fascinating! I love answering the @mentions I get, or the direct messages I’m sent! I’m honestly loving it for the first time!

In realizing today was the day I officially fell in love with Twitter, I realized something else! I really care about getting more followers! In fact, I’m obsessed with getting more followers! I have to get my numbers up! So if you’re reading this make sure you follow me @KarliWhetstone! And if you’re already following me, tell everybody following you to follow me! I have to get my number up, now that I’m officially in love with Twitter!!

Miracle Baby!

In watching the horrible events that have transpired in Japan since the 8.9 magnitude earthquake rocked the country to its core, I like the rest of you have been watching in despair. It’s almost hard to put into words the things you feel watching people at the worst moments in their life. The images from this horrific event are gut-wrenching. This is devastation like I’ve never seen in my life. Doug said to me today, “this is like the worst thing you could ever imagine times two!” And he’s right, it’s almost unfathomable.

My heart goes out to the Japanese people. When I think of them, I am first and foremost overwhelmed with heartbreak over the loss of life. With over 4,000 people reported dead, and over 8,000 people still missing, I didn’t think good news would be coming any time soon, but the efforts of the heroic search and rescue teams changed my thoughts entirely!

A 4-month-old baby girl was found alive and healthy! They pulled her from the vast wreckage, where she had been trapped for 3 days! She was literally in her mother’s arms when a tidal wave swept her away 3 days earlier. After thinking their little girl was lost forever, they were quickly reunited with her, thanks to the heroes in the search and rescue teams! I find in times like these when it seems things are at their very worst, God always sends miracles our way, and this was definitely one of them! My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

Today, even if it’s not true, everybody is Irish! Luckily, I really am! A little bit anyway! I’m mostly, English, Irish and Italian, but I think I’m pretty much a mutt! In fact, I think I’m going to have to stop by Ancestory.com to find out who I really am! LOL!

Ok, so back to one of my favorite Saints! Saint Patrick who got rid of my least favorite animal of all time…..the dreaded snake! If that’s not a reason for celebration I’m not sure what is? If only he hadn’t stopped in Ireland and got rid of all snakes in the world, I would be so much happier! LOL! I’m so freaked out by snakes, I can’t even look at them through glass at the zoo! I can’t watch them in movies either! I close my eyes, until they’re off the screen! So once again let me say……Go St. Patrick!!!

I think St. Patrick’s Day is such a fun day! What’s not to love about a day devoted to having a great time! Everybody channels their inner Irish and has a blast! And in traditional Irish form let me send this wish to you…….

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Stitch Needed!

As all of you now know, I love to cook! Well, with Doug getting ready to go on another shoot for his hunting TV Show, “Survive The Hunt,” I decided to make the crew, and all of the Reaper Outdoor Production Company, treats to take with them on their week long hunt! I got up this morning and started cooking, and cooking, and baking, and cooking!!

I had a lot of fun, as I always do when I cook! The timing was good too, because I didn’t have any appointments until the afternoon! I was able to devote my entire morning to getting everything done! I pulled the last thing out of the oven about 2 minutes before I walked out the door! I didn’t have time to bag everything, so I had to postpone that until I got home, but I was really excited with my progress!

When I got home, I started cutting everything up, and putting them in trusting zip lock bags! I was cutting up a pepperoni roll when it happened! I cut my thumb! And not only did I cut my thumb, I slit it quite deep! I was so mad at myself, believe it or not, tonight was the first time I’ve ever cut myself while cooking! I couldn’t stop the bleeding! It wasn’t as though I cut the tip of my thumb off, but the cut was rather significant, and I really didn’t want to go to the Emergency Room! I figured if I covered my cut and put enough pressure on it, it would clot eventually! Eventually came 2 1/2 hours later! I couldn’t believe how long it took! I probably really should have gotten a stitch or two, but who has time for that! Now, when I have a little scar there I can fake like I’m a real cook! LOL!

Absolute Monsters!

I, like I’m sure a lot of you, come to times in my life where I ask God, “why did this have to happen?” I do believe through every event in life good or bad, we are supposed to learn from it, and try to grow from it! I find that to be a good theory and at times, think it to be very true. However, it’s things like the tragedy I’m going to tell you about that makes me question everything!

I just heard about a story that I think is one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever heard. A mother and her boyfriend beat her 3-year-old son Noah to death for wetting his pants. They then ordered a pizza, and ate it while they watched a movie. They didn’t seem to notice that Noah was struggling to breath for hours. They called for help the next morning, but Noah had already passed away.

I’m actually at a loss for words. That poor baby! My heart breaks for Noah. No child should ever have to live a life like he did. No child should ever be harmed in any way. It’s unfathomable to me that people could ever hurt a child. I just hope the two monsters that killed Noah, go to jail and never get out. In my opinion, when you hurt a child there should be no second chance!

Attached At The Hip!!

When I think about it, it’s hard for me to believe that growing up I didn’t have a computer, or the internet! In fact we didn’t get a computer in our house until I was in middle school, and on top of that, we didn’t get the internet until I was almost a junior in high school! Nowadays, I can’t go 20 minutes without checking my email!

It’s fascinating to me how much work is done over the internet now! What used to be done over the phone is now almost entirely done through email! You would think with what I do, I wouldn’t use a computer much at all, but it’s a key part of my job to be active online! When my 5th hour on the computer rolled around, I decided, I literally go nowhere without my precious computer! I’m constantly working on it, answering emails, updating my website, visiting my social networking pages, believe it or not, I even write music on my computer! For lack of a better term, my computer is attached to my hip at all times!

I think taking a laptop through the airport is one of the worst experiences ever! First you have to take it out of your bag! Then, the laptop has to be in its own bin with nothing else in the bin! Then you get through security so you have to put it away again! It’s just a hot mess! And every time I go through that, I think to myself, I’m never traveling with my computer again! And of course when the next trip rolls around, there I am, computer in hand, because I wasn’t lying when I said my computer is attached to my hip at all times!

Big Ten Champs & March Madness!!

GO BUCKS is what I started the day saying! We needed a big win against Penn State to win the Big Ten Championship in Basketball! I was feeling pretty confident, but as I’ve learned so many times before, you never know until the game is played!

The Bucks looked great from the start, but I have to admit definitely started a little slow! I was never worried, but I was hoping they didn’t play at that tempo the entire game! I wanted a huge win over Penn State, not just a win! LOL! Luckily in the 2nd half they came to play! They finished with a great game, and of course as a result won the Big Ten Championship!

Next up, the Bucks have a huge task ahead! Considering they’ve been ranked #1 for quite some time, they have a lot of pressure on their shoulders to do really well in March Madness! Who am I kidding….Buckeye Nation wants a National Championship! But then again, Buckeye Nation always wants a National Championship! So here’s hoping the Bucks keep dominating on the court, and just maybe we’ll get our wish! GO BUCKS!!

Lots of Love,
